Billiards balls going in different directions

Billiards is a varied competition that can be played in so many ways,  including seven ball.

The game of seven ball is a fast-paced billiards match that requires a lot of skill and, like most games, a little bit of luck.  There are only seven balls on the table, so the game is fast and finished in a relatively short period of time.  Adding to the speediness of this game is the fact that six of the seven balls can be sunk into any available pocket.

The first step to a successful and competitive game of seven ball is to rack the balls according to the rules.  In this game, the balls are placed in a circle, with the one ball being in front and two through six placed counterclockwise from that point.  Finally, the seven ball is placed in the center of the circle.  On the breaking shot, one ball must be pocketed or they are all re-racked for the opponent to break.

Proven Techniques That Are Guaranteed to Turn Good Players Into Great

There is no point value to the balls used in seven ball billiards and the object is simply to legally pocket the seven ball.  After the opening shot, the two opposing shooters must choose a side of the table to attempt to shoot the seven ball into.  Either player may shoot balls one through six into any open pocket, but once the seven ball is left it must go into the pocket on the side that he/she declared after the opening break.

On any shot except the final seven ball, the shooter must first contact the lowest numbered ball on the table before a shot is considered legal.  If the seven ball is pocketed on the opening break after first contacting the one ball, it IS enough to declare the opening shooter the winner of the game, even though he or she had not declared a side of the table to pocket the ball.

One of the advantages of this game is that it can be played by two competitors of unequal skill.  For example, the player with less experience may have four possible pockets in which to sink the seven ball, while the more experienced player may have only two possible holes.

If you choose to play seven ball just for the speed of the game, you may decide to pocket the seven ball in any of the six holes.
